Synopsis
Virginia only knew her father, the adventurer Peter Tangvald, through newspaper praise and his popular autobiographical stories. After going bankrupt in Beverly Hills in the 1950s, this charismatic Norwegian spent the rest of his life roaming the oceans on a sailboat built by his hands, defying conventions and the elements. Married seven times, he lost two of his wives at sea before sinking in turn alongside his daughter Carmen, 8 years old, when his boat was wrecked in the West Indies in 1991. The only survivor of this tragedy, his son , Thomas, adopted the same wandering life until his sailboat disappeared in 2014 without a trace. Virginia's investigation takes her around the world as she attempts to unravel her family's secrets. When disturbing revelations and suspicious deaths pile up, she discovers that her father is not the hero she had idealized all her life, like so many others before...
